SPRING CHALLENGE FUNDRAISER
(please scroll down for status of donations received so far)
A year has now passed since our first successful “Spring
Challenge” Fundraiser and you will all be receiving printed
information within the next few weeks announcing the kick-off for
our upcoming Second Annual “Spring Challenge” event.
This is the single-most important fundraising campaign of the
entire year for the Humane Society of Morgan County. If there
is a single time during the year that you might wish to support
the HSMC, this
will now be the time to do it! The success (or failure) of this “Spring
Challenge” Campaign directly determines our budget for the
rest of the year and totally determines what we can accomplish
during the next twelve month period. This once-a-year “Spring
Challenge” is our single largest and most important source
of funding from the community and our supporters.
Most of the money we raise during this campaign goes to our “General
Fund”. This is the money used throughout the year to pay
our utility bills, wages, veterinary and medical expenses, purchases
supplies, pay insurance premiums, and fund animal welfare and education
programs. Last year, the “Spring Challenge” Fundraiser
brought in nearly $27,000. This represented nearly one-quarter
of our total year’s operating budget. With continually rising
costs, we need to raise at least $30,000 during this “Spring
Challenge” in order to “keep doing what we’re
doing”.
Last year’s Spring Challenge money came from many sources
- The local community, part-time residents, friends and family
members who don’t even live in the area, local businesses,
and personal donations from our directors and paid staff members.
We will be going to all of those sources, once again, to help make
this event another success. Everyone rose to the challenge at a
most critical time and literally moved the Humane Society away
from the “brink” of financial failure to a position
where we were able to pay all our bills, improve our facilities,
perform much-needed maintenance, substantially improve the care
and treatment provided to the animals, and actually enabled us
to put a few extra dollars back into the bank for a “rainy
day fund”. If it had not been for the financial support provided
by hundreds of caring donors in the community and throughout the
country during our “Spring Challenge” last year, Morgan
County may very well have LOST this wonderful organization. This
year’s “Spring Challenge” event
must again be successful in order to continue serving the community
and
placing wonderful adoptable animals into loving “forever” homes.
When you receive information in the mail during the next few weeks,
announcing our “Spring Challenge” Fundraiser event,
please – open your hearts, your wallets, and reflect upon
the great work and the positive value that our little Humane Society
provides to this community and to the many stray, abandoned, and
neglected animals in the county. If you’re not on the Humane
Society’s database of donors, you’re still encouraged
to take part in this effort. To donate , please notate that your
donation is for the Spring Challenge and mail it to HSMC, P.O.
Box 705, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411. With everyone giving as generously
as possible, the Humane Society of Morgan County will meet their
2008 financial goal.
