HUMANE SOCIETY HOSTS UNITED WAY VISIT AND PREPARES FOR ANNUAL YARD SALE
Representatives
of the United Way visited The Humane Society of Morgan County
shelter on Thursday, May 18. Although the outcome of the decision
made by the United Way will not be known for a few months, staff
and volunteers remain hopeful that the United Way will continue
its critical funding support to our community’s shelter
and its programs.
The Humane Society of Morgan County needs good quality donated items to sell as well as many volunteers to help with its annual Yard Sale in the Park fundraiser. The event will be Sunday, June 4 from 9am - 3pm. Sunday, June 11 is the rain date. Yard sale donations drop off at Berkeley Springs Self Storage, Unit #188, (next to the Humane Society on Rt. 522 South) will be accepted on Thursday May 25th and June 1st from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. and also on Saturdays May 27th and June 3rd from
10am until 2pm. In order for this fund-raiser to be the
best it can be, many more volunteers are needed .To volunteer
help at the Yard Sale, to take a spot on the donation drop-offs
schedule or to help with sorting and pricing, call Lynn
Slaughter at 258-3323.
Volunteers
are always needed to place fliers and posters for upcoming
events at community businesses. An individual from each area
workplace or church that has a community bulletin board is
asked to call if he or she is willing to post our events
fliers there. Anyone willing to help with even a small part
of this on-going, event-related activity is encouraged to
call Susan Kemenyas at 258-7841.
