HUMANE SOCIETY ANNOUNCES RABIES CLINIC RESULTS AND SPRING CHALLENGE STATUS

The Humane Society of Morgan County hosted their annual Spring Rabies Clinic on Saturday, April 12th with the help of Dr. Erick Hess of Ark Animal Clinic in Hedgesville and the assistance of several of his able staff. Nearly 100 animals were vaccinated against rabies at this event. It was one of the largest turn-outs of recent record to a Humane Society Rabies Clinic with a few families returning two or more times to bring all of their pets in that day for shots.

The Humane Society also reports that, to date, 205 donors have given a total of $14,240 toward their annual Spring Challenge. This is a nearly half of the total $30,000 goal for the 2008 Spring Challenge which, when reached, will cover about one third of the annual cost of operating the Adoption Center. The Humane Society receives no funds from local, state or Federal taxes and no support for the Humane Society of the United States. The small, volunteer-run organization depends on the generosity of those who recognize the need for the services they provide to the community for most of its funding. With nearly $16,000 still needed to meet the goal, the Humane Society encourages all who have not yet given in response to the Spring Challenge to consider making a tax-deductible contribution to help keep the Adoption Center operating. The Humane Society anticipates that goal will be reached as people are receiving income tax refunds and funds from the federal government’s economic stimulus incentive.
