HUMANE SOCIETY HOLDS SUCCESSFUL FORMAL CAT ADOPTION AND BLACK
TIE GALA
The Warm Springs Intermediate School was the host site of
the Formal Cat Adoption and Black Tie Gala held by the Humane
Society of Morgan County on Saturday, February 14th. The event
was supported by many local businesses and artisans including
Angus & Ale, The Oasis Café, Acorns & Oaks,
The Office Supply Store, Red Guitar Music Services, Hsu Studios,
USHA Gallery, Cathy’s Art, Jewelry & Gifts, Chick
Rock Creations, Samantha Redston, Jodey Eliseo Ann Darling,
Susan Harris and Lisa Wilder. Numerous people donated refreshments,
items for Silent Auction or Door Prizes. Among the many people
who helped to set up the event, special recognition was made
for Mrs. Tracie Bostic and some of the students of the Warm
Springs Middle School Chapter of the FCCLA who made and put
up decorations in the school’s lobby and cafeteria for
the Gala. Willa Hahn helped with pre-event promotion and media
distribution. Desiree Adams did at-event promotion by serving
as HSMC mascot “Morgan the Cat”. Guests were given
a formal welcome by formally attired doorman Grant Fleming,
by guest escorts Samantha Stewart and Juliette Wilder and by
event hostess Mary Mulcare. Numerous people helped at the Gala
serving at various posts throughout the evening with special
recognition to Emma Fleming and Chris Lina, both of whom served
at admission and were designated to pick up food donated by
the participating restaurants.
Guests of honor at the Gala were event sponsors Dr. Mark & Cady
Roberts, Samantha Reinold and Laurie Fischer. Also acknowledged,
but not in attendance at the Gala, were event supporters Pam
Silverman and Donna & Bob Okninski.
The Formal Cat Adoption held in the gymnasium, at the same
time as the Black Tie Gala, was due to the tireless planning,
preparation, and organization of Senior Cat Coordinator Barbie
Ginck with at-event assistance from Adoption Center Manager
Andrea Anderson, Caretakers Heather, Joy, Amanda, Janet and
volunteers Ashleigh and Jennifer. Four of the HSMC cats were
adopted at this event with eleven others adopted the same day
at an event in Northern Virginia for the HSMC Adoption Center’s
largest-ever number of adoptions in a single day.
Information on upcoming events, including a Mutt Strut scheduled
to be held at Cacapon State Park in April, can be found at
the Humane Society’s
website which features information about the Adoption Center, activities of
the Humane Society, a link to Pet Finders (virtual shelter) and information
on numerous pet-related concerns and issues at www.hsmc-wv.org.
