>> NEWS > Morgan County 4-H Explorers Club presents a BIG check to the Humane Society

At their meeting on Monday, May 5th , the Explorers 4H club presented a check for $147.75 to Susan Kemenyas for the Humane Society of Morgan County. The club raised funds by having a candle sale in February. They elected to donate the funds the total proceeds of the sale, which were $295.50, to the Humane Society of Morgan County and Morgan County Animal Control.

Mrs. Kemenyas came to the meeting and discussed with the members of the club what the Humane Society does for animals, opportunities for volunteer work, and other ways the Humane Society helps the animals through finding homes, caring for their medical needs, rescuing animals in need and educating the community on pet ownership and care. The money donated by the Explorers 4H Club will be used to make an educational display in the new Visitor Center. Mrs. Kemenyas was very pleased with the work the club did to make the donation for their animal friends.

Address to Explorers Club by Board Secretary Susan Kemenyas:
"I commend you Explorers for taking the tenets of 4-H and using them to make a real difference for the animals in Morgan County now and in the future..."

Head – Observing the community around you, evaluating areas of need and responding with practical solutions toward meeting needs for everyone in our community, including the homeless animals.

Heart – Operating from compassion that motivates action to improve the community for everyone including homeless animals.

Hands – Getting involved and doing what you can in your realm of responsibility and in your sphere of influence to make a difference for everyone in our community, including the homeless animals.

Health – Acting to improve the quality of life for everyone in our community, including the homeless animals.

The group decided that they would like to have their donation be used to purchase a brochure rack for the new visitor's center for easy access to information that will help others to learn how to properly care for and train their pets for happy, healthy lives.
